  • This is SO HELPFUL. Used to have a Blackberry and the documentation was non-existent; this Droid X is so much more user friendly so I was surprised that there wasn’t anything about how to actually make the call using speed dial. So simple–great.

  • Have followed these instructions repeatedly and cannot get any contact onto the speed dial list. Steps 1-3, no problem — where are the intructions after that?? No matter what I’ve tried, the slots remain empty. Help.

  • having the same issue with a Droid 2. Found the setup no problem, but going through the steps to assign a contact to a speed dial number, I can’t seem to get the contact to stick to the number.

-Tap on speed dial number to assign, takes me to contacts.
-type contact name, finds correct contact
-Tap name, press enter, press ‘ok’… nothing seems to assign the contact to the speed dial number…

  • I had the same trouble – use the keypad to find a contact, select the contact, and nothing happens – speed dial slot still empty. Then I discovered that if I don’t use the popup keypad, but just scroll to find the contact and select it, it works! There must be some bug in the process. Anyway, I now have my speed dials set up.

  • The Droid X gives 9 speed dial slot. How do you add additional slots?

    Comment by Dawn — April 10, 2011

  • Go into keypad and hold the number down that you want to set up speed dial. it will ask you if you want to set up speed dial for that number. you state “ok” then it will go to contacts. put the contact name in and hold that down and it should work from there!! Very easy
