Why does T9 make my Samsung Brightside phone lock up and then restart when I’m texting? This seems to be a problem with many of these phones, does Verizon or Samsung have a plan?

hi,there.T9 ususally performs nice with the QWERTY keyboard. but my brightside makes me crazy with the T9 input typewriting as your problem. for customers’ benefit, i am planing to contact with Samsung online service

For those with T9 problems from the front touchscreen, by chance, is your phone’s memory loaded with music/pics/etc.?
Comment by HNL — March 20, 2012
yes, it is…i have music files loaded into my memory card.. but it is totally irrelative, i think

Some systems have problems when memory gets loaded up. Phone OS’, like regular computers, need to periodically ‘page’ information back and forth into/from memory to perform tasks. T9 software has to use paging because it has to see what you are typing, and try to figure out what you’re typing.
My thought is that people who are having the problem may have “loaded” phones with insufficient memory for T9 to function properly.
It’s just a thought, and the only way to narrow it down to see if it MAY be the issue (or not) is to see if people with the problem have loaded phones.

It has nothing to do with the phone being “loaded” up. I already exchanged 2 phones with the same issue without even putting a single file on the phone. This is just a software issue. Hopefully Samsung/Verizon can come up with an update to fix this bug.

Does T9 do anything on Brightside?
All I have seen is that it does a letter then stops.. Won’t let me do anything either until I cancel it all.
How does one even use T9? I briefly had a couple of different phones and they were far superior with suggesting words and etc while typing on the Qwerty pad even. If only their font had been bigger…..

i stand by your story…it totally has nothing to do with these files but the software issue. i have sent my brightside to local Verizon Service and am waiting for the reply

I really like this phone, but using it without the full qwerty keyboard is difficult. I’m used to an old slider without a touchscreen, and when I didn’t use the full keyboard I had it on T9 Word or Palabra. It’s aggravating now that I can’t use it when I only have one hand to text with >.<

yes, it is really hard without the full qwerty keyboard. it is not so spiffy for you to text.
